newsweek: Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) donned a hood and dark sunglasses on the House floor this morning, saying, “Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum.” As the Republican Rep. Greg Harper banged his gavel, Rep. Rush continued shouting, “May God bless Trayvon Martin’s soul, his family…” as he was escorted off of the floor and out of the room. Apparently it’s against House rules to wear a hat—and Rep. Harper explained, “The chair finds that the donning of a hood is not consistent with this rule. Members need to remove their hoods or leave the floor.” Here’s video.
